Ford To Auction Most Powerful GT On eBay For Breast Cancer Research

Ford will auction two of the most powerful Falcon GTs ever – both are FPV GT F sedans – with the majority of proceeds going to the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) to fund research working towards a cure.

The hero GT F, build No. 001, and the ultimate collectable, GT F build No. 500, have both been held back by Ford specifically for the auctions.

Given their historical significance of these cars, the auction is expected to raise considerable funds for breast cancer research, adding to the $125 million Ford globally has donated during more than 20 years of support, and Ford of Australia’s $1.2 million contribution to the National Breast Cancer Foundation in more than 10 years.

“We are using the power of our most powerful GT ever to help the National Breast Cancer Foundation further fund breast cancer research,” says, Bob Graziano, Ford President and CEO.

“These two iconic vehicles are the result of the innovation and passion of Ford and its engineers, and we aim to support the National Breast Cancer Foundation and the equally passionate researchers in their bid to achieve a future of zero deaths from breast cancer.

“We are totally committed to this cause and moving forward, one of the key priorities will be continuing our support of the communities in which we live and work, along with the broader Australian community.”

Going fast

The auctions of the vehicles will take place simultaneously on eBay and will go live on the evening of Sunday, August 17. The auctions are open to all individuals and organisations in Australia.

Bidders will have just seven days to make their best offer before activity concludes at 8pm on Sunday, August 24.

For security, all bidders will be required to register through eBay and may be required to make a $100 PayPal authorisation deposit in order to qualify to bid.

All non-winning bidders will have their authorisation deposit void after the close of the auction.

The auctions will raise funds to help the National Breast Cancer Foundation to move closer towards its goal of zero deaths from breast cancer by 2030.

The National Breast Cancer Foundation CEO, Carole Renouf, was understandably delighted to learn of Ford’s generosity.

“At the National Breast Cancer Foundation we’ve long been very appreciative of Ford’s support but this is quite unexpected,” she said.

“We are honoured that these two significant vehicles are being auctioned to benefit breast cancer research and form part of Ford’s fundraising efforts for the year.

“The National Breast Cancer Foundation understands the historical importance of these cars to enthusiasts. I am pleased that they will know that they are also supporting a tremendous cause.

“Thanks to the ongoing support of the community and corporate partners such as Ford, we can continue our efforts to reduce the impact of breast cancer on Australians through research.”

Pink Is The New Blue

FPV GT F 001, complete with Victorian registration GTF 001 and manual transmission, comes in Kinetic Blue with a matte black stripe package.

It has been used by Ford as the “hero car” for the model’s launch program, with the vehicle featuring in video clips, social media campaigns and the road test program.

GT F 001 has earned the praise of some of the country’s most respected motoring publications and reporters.

FPV GT F 500 is a brand new vehicle, planned with a manual transmission, but yet to be built, which will enable the lucky winning bidder the opportunity to select their preferred vehicle colour and stripe combination.

Power of giving

Ford Australia has been a proud partner of the National Breast Cancer Foundation for 12 years, contributing $1.2 million to breast cancer research in Australia.

Ford Australia joins Ford USA and Ford Europe in the drive to find a cure for breast cancer, together dedicating more than $125 million to raise awareness and fund research programs.

Ford’s FPV GT F 351 pays tribute to the Falcon GT lineage that began in 1967.

Today, the Ford Falcon GT is the most iconic of all Australian-built performance cars, and as the most powerful and advanced GT ever, the FPV GT F is a fitting celebration to the model.

Powered by a supercharged 5.0-litre DOHC all-aluminium V8 engine and producing a massive 351 kW and 570 Nm of torque, the FPV GT F wears a “351” badge, recalling the 351 cubic-inch 5.8-litre V8 engine that became synonymous with success both on and off the race track with the Falcon GT of the late ‘60s and ‘70s.
