Popular Victorian body shop industry identity Max Chanter has passed away as a result of a heart condition.
As the operator of Lemax Body Repairs, Max was a well-known industry champion, particularly in the face of insurance company pressure. He also worked with the Society of Automotive Engineers Australasia (SAE-A) and was Chairman of the Independent Body Repair Group.
“Max was involved in the automotive industry for over 45 years, of which 25 years were spent managing his own motor body repair company,” said the SAE-A. “Max was appointed CEO of SAE-A in July 2009 after holding board positions for a number of years. During his career, Max participated in many industry initiatives. On behalf of the SAE-A board of directors, CEO, staff and members, our condolences go out to Max’s family.”
Max recently lost his wife, Judy, who sadly passed on Christmas Eve 2022. His funeral will be held on 3 February 2023.
The team at BodyShop News extend our condolences to Max’s family, friends and colleagues.
