The Victorian Automotive Chamber of Commerce’s (VACC) Body Repair Division has launched an initiative called ‘Your car, your choice’, designed to inform motorists of their rights when seeking body repairs.
VACC says the multi-platform campaign aims to make drivers understand the importance of being able to choose their repairer following a vehicle accident. The initiative will engage motorists in Victoria and Tasmania by offering the chance to win one year of free comprehensive car insurance, while using the opportunity to educate entrants on why they should choose the repairer of their vehicle.
“Choice of repairer is important for owners of any car, whatever the make and model, and using a specialist can give them peace of mind knowing their car is being expertly repaired,” said Geoff Gwilym, CEO of the VACC. “Additionally, being able to choose a repairer close to home may save travel and a lot of time.”
The VACC says it also wants to ensure motorists don’t feel insurance companies are treating them as “just a number”.
“Insurance companies are often large corporate institutions that may not view drivers or their vehicles individually,” said Gwilym. “If a motorist allows their insurer to control who repairs their car, they could wait longer than necessary and repairs may not be what they expect. VACC wants motorists to regain control of their rights. After all, it’s your car, your choice.”
