PPG Supports Mental Health Programme For Transport Workers

PPG and fleet branding solutions company Fleetmark Group are championing mental health and wellbeing via a programme known as the Healthy Heads in Trucks & Sheds (HHTS).

PPG said mental health is now recognised as a significant issue across the whole community. However, with risk factors such as long hours, workplace isolation, pressure to meet delivery schedules, and the need to be alert at all times when operating heavy machinery, workers in the road transport, warehousing, and logistics industries are particularly vulnerable.

To tackle the issue, a groundswell of backing from across the industry resulted in the HHTS initiative. Thanks to strong support and funding from partners, including the PACCAR and Dealer Industry Fund, the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator, and BP, the outreach programme created an HHTS Roadshow that will tour the country in a specially equipped DAF LF truck.

Stuart Farrow, Group General Manager of Fleetmark, said the company was keen to contribute to the cause. “Initially, we reached out to the team at HHTS and offered to contribute our expertise wherever we could, such as with branding design and application. Then, when it came to the roadshow programme vehicle, it was right up our alley.

“We asked a few of our key suppliers to contribute materials so the Fleetmark team could do the job and PPG responded immediately, so they were happy to help. PPG supplied all the materials required to paint the truck and we know that will protect it and keep it looking great long into the future. I am a big believer in promoting good mental health, particularly when you look at the realities of the challenges we face in 2022. It’s also really nice to be able to jointly contribute to a worthwhile project like this because Fleetmark Group and PPG have been partners for a long, long time.”

Commencing in March 2022, the HHTS Roadshow will appear at 22 industry events throughout the year. In addition to providing educational material tailored to the needs of the heavy vehicle and supply chain sectors, the HHTS team will encourage the use of the free Healthy Heads App and distribute pocket-sized handbooks containing practical mental health and wellbeing tips.
