The Bima Insurance Platform (bima.om), Oman’s first online insurance portal, has handled 400,000 requests in its first year of operation and insured about five per cent of the country’s private cars.
Bima is an investment project of the Oman Technology Fund (OTF). It enables customers to view offers from leading insurance companies by entering their car’s plate number and their own driver’s licence number. Depending on their circumstances, they can conclude insurance contracts and be making premium payments electronically within minutes.
The platform offers services by 13 insurance companies across a multitude of categories including vehicle, travel, domestic, and life insurance.
To celebrate its first anniversary, Bima is offering a free life insurance policy to every customer who insures their vehicle on the platform. The offer runs until the end of the year, according to the Oman Daily Observer.
