New Auto Parts Group Sydney Facility Now Open

Auto Parts Group (APG) has completed an 18-month upgrade of its Sydney operation. With 24,000 square metres of storage, the state-of-the-art facility is twice the size of the group’s previous Sydney warehouse. APG says the upgrade involved an “end-to-end parts life cycle evaluation” to achieve high customer service targets.

According to Auto Parts Group, the new Sydney facility reaffirms its long-term commitment to the region’s customers through increased product capacity, faster supply and reduced parts handling. The company says the resultant time saving means reduced cycle times for repairers, leading to greater profit.

The facility features the latest in warehouse management systems, which automates the parts locating process, while pick strategies have also been optimised and on-site conveyors allow for a further reduction in the manual handling of parts. The building’s external design also boosts efficiency by improving the goods receipt and dispatch processes.

APG says increased efficiency even extends to transport. The facility is located in Smithfield, which puts it close to the port, airport and several motorways, giving it transport advantages.

To aid environmental sustainability, the warehouse is fitted with translucent roof panelling that allows natural light through, along with water tanks and a 100-kilowatt solar panel system. APG says these features have secured Green Star Site Approval and demonstrate the group’s efforts in working towards a near-zero carbon footprint.

A leading automotive panel and parts supply service for more than 25 years, APG also has major warehouse facilities in Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.
