MTA NSW Flies The Flag At 2024 Western Sydney Careers Expo

The Motor Traders’ Association of New South Wales attended the Western Sydney Careers Expo to showcase employment opportunities available in the automotive industry.

To attract a large audience and create a lively atmosphere, the association set up a display featuring a sponsored go-kart alongside a racing simulator with leaderboard, which it said was “a big hit”. The MTA used the opportunity to engage with attendees and hand out ‘goodie’ bags containing informative material about automotive careers.

“Over the three-day event we engaged with both students and job seekers, breaking the stereotype that automotive careers are solely dirty and labour-intensive,” said the MTA. “We showcased the business side of the industry, the innovative research and development sector, and specialised roles such as working with race teams.

“We also emphasised that apprenticeships in automotive don’t have to be confined to traditional classroom settings. Understanding that everyone learns differently, we provide practical, one-on-one sessions tailored to individual needs, emphasising the mindset of our MTA Training model.”

Additionally, the association promoted its dedicated jobs board for automotive careers.

“Generic job boards often clutter search results with unrelated listings and lack filters for the diverse pathways within the automotive sector. Our jobs board streamlines this process, making it easier to find the right job quickly,” the MTA said.

“It’s been an amazing experience for us to see the amount of interest and diversity at the expo. We’re committed to building the future of the automotive industry, especially amid a skills shortage, and will continue to seek new opportunities to do so,” the association added.
