MotorWorld Sydney To Host Monterey Hero Ron Goodman

Ron Goodman, known for his numerous victories and car building in the USA, will be making a special appearance at MotorWorld Sydney along with the Porsche 356 that he guided to victory. Goodman will be showing off his famous 1954 Porsche 356, as well as a fully restored 1956 Porsche Speedster, at Sydney Motorsport Park from December 1-4.

In 2014, Ron Goodman chased his dreams all the way to Monterey in the United States of America. After being held up in transit, his Porsche 356 finally arrived just twelve hours before the race, and the rest was history. Visitors to MotorWorld Sydney will have a chance to meet Goodman and see his famous Porsche 356 in action, as well as hear stories from Ron and learn about the film made about his journey. Goodman will also be displaying a fully restored 1956 Porsche Speedster and a rare 1983 Porsche Speedster.

Goodman’s appearance will be a treat for classic car enthusiasts, giving visitors to MotorWorld Sydney the incredible opportunity to see his famous Porsche in action as he drives a few laps in celebration of his achievement.

“Going to Monterey to race my Porsche or any historic race car is the holy grail. It’s such an iconic race with a diverse array of cars that you only really see in magazines and museums. To be part of that is a great achievement for a small group of Aussie enthusiasts.” said Ron Goodman.

Visitors will also have the chance to learn more about the award-winning film that was made about Goodman’s big win.

“The film “The Road to Monterey” ended up winning the German Auto Film Festival. We were up against giants like Audi, VW, and Skoda with their huge budgets. We Aussies, just three of us, filmed it on a shoestring with no second takes.” Goodman said.

Winners of the Glasuirt Amazing Paint Race will have the privilege of driving around the track with Ron Goodman in his famous Porsche. This experience will be the thrill of a lifetime for the lucky winners. Goodman will also head the judging panel to pick the best-presented car club, assessing car clubs including Mustang, Historic Police Vehicles, Porsche Club of Victoria, Ex-military Vehicles, and Lotus & Historic Sports & Racing Cars Association. Assisting him with the judging will be Nova Newsreader Matt de Groot and ABC Sports Presenter Stephanie Brantz.

Australia’s biggest test fest also offers entertainment for families, with the open-air cinema and family zone in action on Saturday and Sunday. Jaguar’s Land Rover Art of Performance Tour will be a highlight, offering visitors the opportunity to test the newest Jaguars on some of the most technologically advanced courses ever seen.
