MotorEx Prepares For 20th Birthday Celebrations

Meguiar’s MotorEx has announced that car entries and spectator tickets for the 20th MotorEx to be held at the Melbourne Showgrounds on 6-7 February 2021, will go on sale on 9 December 2020.

The event had been scheduled for May 2020, however COVID-19 restrictions forced a postponement to 2021.

“For the MotorEx team and the Melbourne car community, what an awesome feeling to announce we’re on,” said Andy Lopez, promoter of MotorEx. “We’ve submitted a comprehensive COVID management plan to Vic Health based on the delivery of safe and successful Red CentreNATS in the Northern Territory and Burnout Masters in Sydney. The Showgrounds is going to hum with hundreds of beautiful cars and fantastic businesses.”

“People have been working really hard on their cars. We’ll have more than 800 amazing cars on site and a record 20 unveils locked in. We are ready to have fun,” added Lopez.

The COVID-Safe plan submitted to the Victorian Department of Health fell under the Tier 2 event category allowing for up to 5000 people per day, so tickets will be strictly limited.

MotorEx says it showcases the country’s elite cars, a huge trade show, hundreds of modified street cars and driving demonstrations featuring some of Australia’s best drifters. For the 20th MotorEx in 2021, Burnout Masters will be added to the schedule for the first time in the event’s history.

Organisers say the event will continue to help nurture skilled trade professionals of the future with the Flying Spanners competition. Teams of TAFE students will compete with each other by tearing down and rebuilding engines against the clock. Flying Spanners also provides students with an opportunity to network with key players in the automotive industry.
