Jack West Crowned Apprentice of the Year At 2024 VACC / TACC Awards

Jack West, a body repair apprentice from Tasmania, was named Apprentice of the Year at the 2024 Automotive Industry Awards, which celebrate Victoria and Tasmania’s finest automotive industry participants.

One of the 16 businesses, business people and apprentices announced as leaders in their field, West is employed by the Tasmanian Automotive Chamber of Commerce (TACC) and hosted by Boccino Motors, European Technology Bodyworks in Moonah.

West began his apprenticeship in 2020 after completing Year 10. The TACC said that since joining the Bocchino family business, he quickly rose through the ranks to become a standout in his field.

Alfonso Bocchino acknowledged West’s achievements and contributions. “Jack has become a highly skilled and dedicated auto body repair technician and an integral part of our team at Bocchino Motors,” he said.

Bruce McIntosh, State Manager at the TACC, said the industry awards demonstrate member and apprentice commitment to quality and customer service.

“It is a huge accolade to be named the best in Victoria and Tasmania. These winners go above and beyond and have proved themselves more than worthy of these titles,” said McIntosh.

An independent judge evaluated entries based on business management, workplace practices, customer service and environmental impacts.

“Congratulations to all our 2024 winners and finalists. We recommend them to Victorian and Tasmanian motorists,” said McIntosh.

The winners were announced at the Palladium at Crown, Melbourne during the VACC and TACC President’s Gala Dinner, which included the industry awards and apprentice graduation festivities.
