Former Suncorp And IAG Boss Mark Milliner Joins Youi Board

Youi has appointed Mark Milliner, former head of IAG’s Australia Division, to its board of directors.

Milliner joined IAG in 2016 as Chief Operating Officer and was appointed CEO of the newly created Australia Division in July 2017. He left IAG in 2020 when the company separated its Australian business into direct and intermediated divisions.

Prior to joining IAG, Milliner held several senior roles at Suncorp. He was Group Executive, Commercial Insurance, with responsibility for several brands including Suncorp, GIO and Vero, as well as the group’s workers compensation and compulsory third-party insurance businesses. He was later appointed CEO Personal Insurance, leading 11 consumer brands including AAMI, GIO and Suncorp Insurance.

He was a driving force behind the growth of Capital S.M.A.R.T while at Suncorp, and Repairhub during his time at IAG.

Milliner was appointed to the advisory board of Auto Parts Group in March 2023 and is said to be a key supporter of competition in the parts industry.

Youi also appointed its Chief Operating Officer, Bert Bakker, to the board. Bakker commenced with Youi’s South Africa-based parent company, Outsurance Group, in 2002, and joined Youi in 2015, working as Chief Risk Officer before becoming Chief Operating Officer in July this year.

“We’re thrilled to welcome both Mark and Bert onto the Youi board and I look forward to seeing the significant contribution their collective experience will bring,” said David Foster, Chair of Youi.

“Each will have a substantial and positive impact on Youi’s path towards future growth and success, as well as guiding Youi through the challenging operating environment that insurers are facing.”
