Capricorn Calls For 2023 Rising Stars Apprentice Of The Year Nominations

Nominations are open for Capricorn members to nominate apprentices for its Rising Stars awards programme, which recognises talented apprentices who show initiative, a thirst for knowledge, and commitment. The competition is open to all types of workshops and disciplines, from panel and fabrication to auto-electrical, general mechanical, heavy diesel and more.

Supported by long-term sponsors Castrol, Repco, and the Workshop Whisperer, the programme offers more than $27,000 in shared cash and prizes for the top five apprentices, overall winner, and nominating workshops.

Entries close on 30 April 2023. Capricorn will announce the overall winner in early August 2023 with the top five finalists announced in July.

Brad Gannon, CEO Automotive at Capricorn, said encouraging and acknowledging future leaders is an important part of growing and supporting the automotive industry. “We at Capricorn want to help our members strengthen their teams and believe that recognition and reward will help businesses attract and retain the best talent,” said Gannon.

Capricorn said it encourages members to nominate apprentices as they continue to develop technical proficiency.

“Recognising an apprentice’s commitment will keep them engaged and excited about their promising careers ahead of them. Every apprentice nominated will benefit by receiving a certificate sent to their workshop,” said Capricorn.

“The Capricorn Rising Stars competition highlights the importance of apprentices to the Australian and New Zealand automotive aftermarket industries. The competition also seeks to encourage new talent to join the industry, ultimately generating more qualified automotive repairers to ensure the industry’s continued future growth and strength.”
