Axalta Introduces More Australian Students to Vehicle Painting

Axalta Coating Systems has again partnered with Training Services NSW to welcome a new group of 15 school students and four teachers from south-west Sydney for a one-day introduction to vehicle painting. This second ‘show-and-tell’ event was conducted by Axalta’s training team at the company’s regional training facility in Marsden Park, Sydney.

In line with National Skills Week, which celebrates and highlights the talents, skills, career pathways, and value of Vocational Education and Training (VET), the day included vehicle painting demonstrations, practice using a virtual reality paint simulator, colour matching using the latest tools and technologies, as well as a brief overview on automotive courses from a TAFE NSW representative.

Axalta said that by working with Training Services NSW, the company enables students to experience a career in automotive repair, while demonstrating some of the latest products and equipment. The session was insightful as few students have had the opportunity to engage with the automotive industry due to limited work experience placements and COVID-related restrictions.

“Due to overwhelming demand, we were pleased to host a second group of students,” said Paul Polverino, Axalta’s Training Manager. They saw first-hand an exciting, live, practical demonstration, and experienced what happens in a real body shop. We want to help these students understand the refinish industry and open their eyes to opportunities and career paths available.”

To further their understanding of the industry, Axalta has invited the students to a hands-on training experience in September.

The company also invites repairers based in south-western Sydney interested in offering a student work experience or traineeship to contact Polverino, who will connect you with Training Services NSW (SW Sydney). He can be reached via phone at 0412 485 390 or 1800 292 592, or via email at [email protected].
