Automechanika Johannesburg 2023 Lives Up To Its Sterling Reputation

The eighth Automechanika Johannesburg took place from 5 to 7 September at the Johannesburg Expo Centre.

Over 20 countries took part with more than 500 exhibitors in the various categories of the automotive aftermarket, including Body and Paint; Parts and Components; Electronics and Systems, Accessories and Customising; Management and Digital Solutions; Repair and Maintenance; Car-Wash, Care and Reconditioning; and Tyres.

Automechanika began with a CEO breakfast attended by 68 CEOs, who were treated to various speakers such as Michael Dehn, MD of Messe Frankfurt SA; Andile Africa, CEO of the Automotive Development Industry Centre; Anjue Hirachund, Chairperson of Tshwane Economic Development Agency; and Dr Norman Lamprecht, Executive Manager of Trade Exports and Research at the National Association of Automobile Manufacturers of South Africa.

Various conferences were held over the three days of the fair such as the Retail Motor Industry Organisation’s (RMI) Skills, Training and Labour conference, and the Collision Repairers Association’s (CRA) conference on the general state of the industry, which included BodyShop News contributing writer Andrew Marsh as the keynote speaker.

Apart from local companies, Automechanika Johannesburg’s international exhibitors were from Brazil, China, India, Singapore, Taiwan and Turkiye.
