AMA Appoints Darren Basford As Interim Chief Financial Officer

AMA Group has appointed Darren Basford as Interim Group CFO to replace Steve Becker, who will depart the organisation in late August following the release of the company’s FY21 results.

Basford will commence on 3 August 2021 and work closely with Becker and the broader finance team to ensure a “smooth and orderly transition” of the role.

AMA describes Basford as a skilled professional with more than 25 years’ strategic, financial, and operational experience gained in Australia and internationally. He is a former Director of Ernst & Young and has held CFO roles in a range of industries of both listed and large private businesses, most recently as CFO of Food Industry People Group and Acting CFO of MSL Solutions.

Basford holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Laws from the University of Queensland and a Graduate Diploma in Applied Corporate Governance from the Governance Institute of Australia. Additionally, he is a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand and the Governance Institute of Australia.

“I am pleased to have secured the appointment of Darren while the search for a replacement CFO continues,” said Carl Bizon, Chief Executive Officer of AMA Group.

Bizon acknowledged Becker’s contribution to the Group, saying “he will be missed, and we wish him well as he pursues an exciting opportunity in the private sector.”
