AkzoNobel To Close Production Sites In Pursuit Of “Sustainable Growth”

AkzoNobel intends to close its manufacturing sites in Groot-Ammers (The Netherlands), Cork (Ireland) and Lusaka (Zambia), with the company transferring production from those sites to other locations in the region. The decision is the first part of a multi-year industrial efficiency plan to be finalised by the end of 2026.

The company said the site closures align with its strategic priorities and “commitment to industrial excellence”.

“By focusing on units with scale and higher cost efficiencies, AkzoNobel aims to rationalise, upgrade and optimise its industrial network to improve competitiveness and drive sustainable growth,” the company said. “The related social partners have been informed about the intended closures and next steps.”

Finalisation will follow consultation with employees and local “social partners”.
