AkzoNobel Develops First Open Online Powder Coatings Energy Savings Calculator

AkzoNobel has launched an openly accessible online energy savings calculator for users of powder coatings. The company says that for the first time, powder coatings customers can instantly calculate the energy and carbon savings they can achieve with AkzoNobel’s Interpon products and related services.

“Sustainability is critical for all of us and helping customers to reduce energy is one of the many ways we can work with and for them in order to meet our shared ambitions,” said Jeff Jirak, Director of AkzoNobel’s Powder Coatings business.

“We’re proud to be the first in the industry to introduce this kind of openly available online resource. It will enable us to create better awareness and enable customers to really get to grips with the potential energy and carbon reductions that can be achieved with low cure powder coatings.”

According to Jirak, to understand the full range of possible benefits for individual users, further details of customer-specific situations are required.

The calculator is supported by a detailed guide, helping customers better understand how making small changes in the powder coating process can have a big impact on energy efficiency. These include checking for leakages in compressed air systems, improving insulation, and ensuring process equipment is regularly serviced and maintained. Customers also receive expert support from Interpon’s technical service team.

“We’re fully committed to reducing the environmental impact of our products and processes while creating opportunities to make improvements across the value chain,” said Remco Maassen van den Brink, Marketing Director for AkzoNobel’s Powder Coatings business. “The energy savings calculator and guide are just the latest example of how we continue to help customers make informed decisions that can help them run a more sustainable business.”
