3M says its new Wear it Right app allows convenient respirator qualitative fit testing.
The app, which can be downloaded on a smartphone or tablet, supports multiple types of fit tests while featuring modes for beginner and experienced fit testers. 3M says the app directs users so that they follow consistent fit test protocols at every step of the process, helping to ensure accurate results.
The Wear it Right app is described as suitable for reusable and disposable respirators. It is also preloaded with ISO qualitative fit test protocols to help ensure testing requirements are consistently met as well as providing easily accessible fit testing records.
Future app updates are expected to include other languages and protocols.
3M says traditional fit testing has often relied on paper recordkeeping. However, the Wear it Right app completely digitises the fit test process, importing wearer details and exporting fit test records, eliminating the need to track manually. The company says all data collected is stored locally on the device used.
The app can be downloaded for free from the Apple App Store or Google Play.
